Every engagement ring and wedding band we make is covered by a lifetime manufacturing warranty, and rings above NZ$3,000 include a complimentary lifetime care plan. This page sets out in full what is covered, what is not, how the claim process works, and what the care plan includes.
The binding terms are in our Terms & Conditions.
Our lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects arising from how your jewellery was made, including faults in its casting, construction or setting.
If we confirm a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the jewellery at no cost.
The warranty does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, gemstone (including diamonds) damage or loss, or loss or theft of the jewellery. This includes:
Gemstones themselves are not covered. Although gemstones are durable, they can chip or crack when struck, particularly along an edge. You should arrange your own insurance which should cover gemstone damage, accidental damage, loss and theft. We can arrange an independent valuation for insurance purposes if required — see valuations below.
Very minor scratches or blemishes may occur during the manufacture and handling of fine jewellery. These are not considered defects in craftsmanship or quality.
Metal can naturally settle after gemstones are set, occasionally causing a small or closely set stone to loosen during the first few months. This is a known property of the metal settling, not a quality issue, and it is the reason this specific situation is treated differently from general stone loss.
If a gemstone of 0.10 carats or less falls out within six months of receiving your jewellery, return the piece to us and we may replace and reset the stone free of charge.
Outside this period, or for larger gemstones, we will provide a quote for replacement.
The warranty remains valid provided that:
Work performed by an unapproved party voids the warranty because we cannot verify the quality of that work or accept responsibility for any resulting damage.
In some circumstances, we may approve work by another party without voiding the warranty. This must be confirmed by us in writing beforehand.
If an issue identified during an annual care-plan service is not repaired and later causes damage, that damage will not be covered.
If you disagree with our assessment, we can refer the jewellery to an independent registered valuer or appropriate specialist.
The assessor’s finding will determine the cause of the damage and whether the claim is covered. We do not accept assessments from jewellers, other jewellery brands or third parties that are not a registered jewellery assessor or valuer.
The assessment costs NZ$90 and will be refunded if the issue is found to be a manufacturing defect. This process generally adds at least 10 working days. We will provide you with a copy of the assessor’s written report on completion.
Rings purchased for more than NZ$3,000 include one complimentary care-plan service each year, which includes:
If work identified during the service is covered by the warranty, it is carried out at no cost. Work outside the warranty, including the items listed under "what is not covered" above, is quoted before anything is done.
Two practical notes. First, we do not recommend polishing non-platinum rings every year: each polish removes a fine layer of metal, and done too frequently it wears the ring down. We will advise when polishing is warranted. Second, regular servicing is sometimes a condition of insurance cover, which is a further reason to make use of the annual service.
The complimentary service is available once per year; additional services within the same year will incur a charge. You may be responsible for any shipping costs involved in sending your jewellery to us for the service, we can arrange a prepaid shipping label on your behalf.
For guidance on caring for your jewellery between services, see the Care Guide. For repairs, resizing detail, and servicing costs, see Aftercare.
One complimentary resize is included within 12 months of receiving your ring, subject to the following conditions:
Full conditions and future resizing costs are available on our Aftercare page.
If you would like an insurance valuation, we can arrange one through an independent valuer for NZ$150. The valuation can be provided to your insurer, who will cover you up to the replacement value stated.
If your jewellery contains natural diamonds or natural coloured gemstones, the valuation is complimentary and included.
Whether a valuation is required varies between insurers. Some accept the purchase invoice, particularly for lower amounts; others require a formal valuation. We recommend confirming what your insurer requires before arranging one.
Where jewellery is supplied to you as a consumer for personal use, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies, and nothing in our warranty limits or replaces your rights under the Act. Where jewellery is acquired for business use, the Act does not apply, and our liability is limited to the repair or replacement of the jewellery. The full provisions are set out in our Terms & Conditions.
Can another jeweller or third party work on my jewellery? Any repair, resizing, or other work performed by a jeweller or third party voids the lifetime warranty. We cannot vouch for work we did not carry out. We may from time to time allow other parties to work on your ring without voiding the warranty, we will confirm in writing to you if this is the case.
Is the stone covered if it chips or cracks? No. Gemstone damage is not considered a manufacturing defect. We recommend organising your own insurance to cover gemstone damage, accidental damage, loss and theft.
A small stone has fallen out. Am I covered? If the stone is 0.10 carats or less and falls out within six months of receiving the jewellery, we may replace and reset it free of charge. Outside this period, or for larger stones, we will provide a quote.
Am I covered if I live outside New Zealand? Yes. The warranty applies wherever you live. Overseas customers are responsible for the cost of returning jewellery to us.
Do I still need insurance? We recommend it. The warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Insurance should cover gemstone damage, accidental damage, loss and theft.
How long does a claim take? We will advise the outcome of our assessment within 10 working days of receiving your jewellery. If the claim is referred to an independent assessor, allow a further 10 or more working days.
