Boho Engagement Rings NZ
You’re one to stand out — never the same as everyone else. Fashion comes and goes and you stand to create your own style. Some call you creative, while others try and copy your style. But you don’t care. You like what you like and if you have followers of your art, it’s only a compliment. So when it comes to an engagement ring, it only is fitting you decide on a bohemian engagement ring.
Below are some boho engagement rings that we have done. And if you want to design your own boho engagement ring, Four Words will be the perfect place to get it made. We offer a full custom design process across a wide variety of gemstones. We also can do custom cut diamonds and gemstones to get you exactly what you want.
1 Carat Round Solitaire Diamond With Twisted Knife Platinum Ring
Love the idea of a Tiffany ring but feels too mainstream? Go classic but unique with this trending killer 1 carat round solitaire white diamond with 8 prongs and a twisted knife platinum band. The edge of the band is also encrusted with diamonds. Nothing speaks ice cold better than this boho diamond engagement ring.
We would highly recommend getting a custom wedding band that will sit flush against this unique engagement ring to keep its ‘wow’ factor — also in a twisted knife band in either platinum or white gold.
2 Carat Elongated Hexagonal Cut Diamond In A Yellow Gold Ring
This 2 carat custom-cut elongated hexagonal diamond features bezels on both sides to hold the diamond in place. In doing so, it makes the centre of the diamond the focal point as it is all held together in a 14K yellow gold band.
This is an example where we spent a lot of time with our client to get a diamond specifically cut to ensure they got exactly what they wanted. A ring like this with a two carat diamond starts at around NZD7,000.
5 Stone Boho Engagement Ring In Rose Gold
This stunning five stone boho engagement ring features three colours brought together by a 14K rose gold ring. It features a 1.5 carat equivalent purple pear moissanite and four smaller round moissanites. The two outer round moissanites are champagne coloured, and the smaller round moissanites are space-grey. It is designed with an elegant composition with prongs holding each of the moissanites together.
We love the deep colours of the ring and how all the colours work together. Other gemstones that you could use include aquamarines, or mix and match with sapphire.
This five stone moissanite boho engagement ring will cost around $6,000.
1.5 Carat Ruby Boho Engagement Ring With An Asymmetrical Diamond Halo In 14K Yellow Gold
Want a little bit of boho and a little bit of art deco? This engagement ring brings together both in elegant fashion. It features a 1.5 carat equivalent round ruby in full bezel with an asymmetrical halo composed of baguette cut diamonds of different sizes. This is all held together by a 14K yellow gold band featuring channel set diamonds and a milgrain finish.
If you decide on a design similar to this, we also highly recommend complementing it with a custom wedding ring so that it can sit flush.
This style will cost you around $4,000 - $8000 depending on the centre stone and size you want.
1.5 Carat Asymmetric Teal Sapphire Boho Engagement Ring With Accenting Diamonds In A 14K Yellow Gold Band
Continuing on with the idea of bringing together the boho and art deco style together, this stunning engagement ring oozes great taste. It features a 1.5 carat equivalent emerald cut teal sapphire on a 30 degree angle, with three accenting diamonds, all on one side (making a small diamond cluster). It is all held together by a 14K yellow gold ring. The accenting diamonds are also just on one side further playing into the idea of asymmetry.
This style starts from $3,000.
1.5 Carat Green Moissanite In A Thick Yellow Gold Ring
Balancing minimalism with a bohemian style can be tricky — but it’s not impossible. And this ring is the perfect example. It features a 1.5 carat equivalent emerald cut deep green coloured moissanite in a half bezel in 14K yellow gold. The band is also as wide as the stone itself which is a nice contrast to the previous ring.
This is one of our most popular boho engagement ring designs and the centre stone can be easily swapped out for a diamond, ruby or sapphire.
This boho engagement ring starts from $3,000.
1.5 Carat Marquise Cut Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring
While this ring is a classic, the bohemian element is in the custom diamond cut. It features a much wider marquise cut diamond held together by four prongs in a 14K yellow gold ring.
At Four Words we believe that custom cut diamonds and gemstones are going to become huge — especially with salt and pepper diamonds.
This setting starts from $2,000. Custom cut diamond engagement rings are priced on brief and range from $4,000 - $6,000 for a 1 carat, and between $6,000 - $8,000 for a 1.5 carat. Anything higher will really depend on the brief.
2 Carat Round Sapphire with Accenting Pear Cut and Round Diamonds
While we do see a lots of sapphire engagement rings, we love this one in particular because of its unique take on prongs and accenting stones. The rich dark blue 2 carat equivalent sapphire has six prongs and is supported by an entourage of accenting pear cut and round diamonds on each side. It is all held together with 14K yellow gold. Balanced and symmetrical, this boho engagement ring plays on the idea of classic but unique effortlessly.
A design like this will start from $2,500.
Ruby and Diamond Boho Bridal Set
This stunning boho bridal set is a perfect combination of the art deco era, a minimalist design and a modern boho approach to composition.
The engagement ring features a 1 carat equivalent custom kite cut ruby with accenting round and marquise diamonds. The wedding band features a flush-sitting design which follows the shape of the engagement ring. It also features diamonds at the top of the ring to complement the accenting diamonds on the engagement ring. Both rings feature 18K rose gold.
A bridal set like this will start from $4,000.
1.5 Carat Pear Cut Diamond Solitaire With A Colourful Gemstone Halo in 14K Rose Gold
Textbook bohemian, this unique engagement ring features a 1.5 carat pear cut diamond surrounded by a range of colourful gemstones. It is all held together by a 14K rose gold ring.
We love this ring because of its unique halo — something we have only done a handful of times. We also think that this style would be an ideal candidate for a salt and pepper diamond, champagne diamond or even an alexandrite.
How To Design Your Own Boho Engagement Ring
The first thing that you should do when designing your own boho engagement ring is to find a jeweller that you respect and has good taste. While you may be responsible for providing the brief, they will be responsible for bringing it to life. At Four Words, our designers have at least 10 years of experience and have designed more than 1,000 designs in just the last two years alone.
Pin all the rings that you like and try and articulate why you like each ring to your designer. They should help you narrow down the brief to start doing some sketches.
Provide as much feedback as you can during the sketch phase. The more feedback that you can give, the better the next sketch will be. Designers love to get feedback all at once instead of having to change one thing at a time.
Get a sense of scale. Some shapes look bigger than others, even if they are the same carat weight. And the difference between a 1.5 carat and 1.8 carat is not as much as you think.
Ask for a 3D print if you are not sure about composition. While its nothing like the real thing, it does give you a sense of scale.
After going through the final iterations, you should be ready to get your ring made. It is best to work with a jewellery store that has both their designers and jewellers working together. A risk of working with a freelance jeweller is that their designs may be incompatible with the jewellers. To know the intricacies of designing a ring, check out this piece here.
