Why I deleted most of our old blog posts.

There were hundreds of blogs on our website with titles like “9 Things to Check When Shopping for an Engagement Ring” and “5 Celebrity Rings We Love.”

We wrote them because it was the kind of thing that people told us would help show up on google search. But it wasn't something I was proud of and I cringed everytime I thought about it.

So when we launched our new website, I deleted it all. 

There’s nothing wrong with wanting people to find your website. But somewhere along the way, the goal became publishing content simply because it might generate traffic. We ended up with a blog full of articles that were 'SEO optimised', but didn’t tell you much about Four Words or what we cared about.

So we're starting again from scratch. 

This time, we’re going to use the blog to share things we find interesting and that we'd read ourselves. 

To me this is what company blogs were meant to be in the first place. 

We'll talk about what’s happening inside the company, what we’re working on, why we made certain decisions, as well as interesting findings from our R&D efforts. There’ll be new releases, behind-the-scenes details, or just things we find cool. 

There will still be useful guides and things like that, but they’ll just be about questions we get from real clients and subjects where we have a better answer than your favourite AI.

It’ll be a little more specific, a little more personal and hopefully much more interesting.
