Tastemaker Series: Kira Kirby Ring

The first launch of a new series - the Tastemaker Series.

The idea behind the our Tastemaker Series is we want to work with creatives who can inspire us, and also give other creatives a medium they normally wouldn't operate in. Working with those that sit outside of our industry adds a distinct lens that can stretch our thinking and lead us to designing interesting pieces we wouldn't normally do.

Kira Kirby is a US based engagement ring and fine jewellery content creator, and has truly established herself as a tastemaker when it comes to fine jewellery. She’s fashion-forward, daring, intelligent, and simply has impeccable taste. For this reason, we saw her as the perfect fit for this series and someone we knew we could create something special with.

Diving into Design

Our first conversation around design centred on her desire to create an engagement ring design that was design-forward, used interesting materials, was chic but also wearable.

She had this idea of incorporating a pink moval diamond - something we were super excited about because we are the only jewellers in NZ who can custom cut movals in lab and we love working with them. We also had never designed a piece with a pink moval diamond before.

Our design process explored several iterations of Kira’s vision, and what we landed on is something we’re so proud to share.

The Ring

The final design features a pink moval diamond centre, made using a special modified cut we developed to completely remove the appearance of a bowtie.

We then have a super fine pink diamond halo, and a rose gold setting to ensure those pink hues from both the centre stone and halo remain as warm and pink as possible.

For the band, a triple micro-pave with a gradient of pink to colourless diamonds.
